Logo Design Inspiration & Ideas for Michigan Businesses

Eight principles we use on every logo, illustrated with real client work. Use them to judge any design, including ours.

01

Say one thing clearly

The Code One Construction mark is an excavator and a name. Nothing else. Logos that try to show every service end up showing nothing.

02

Design for the smallest size first

If a logo works as a 32-pixel browser icon, it will work on a billboard. The reverse is rarely true. Monograms like Proficient hold up at every size.

03

Let type carry personality

True Vine uses flowing script for warmth; Robertson Plumbing uses bold, wide letters that read from a moving van. The font is half the message.

04

Choose color for a reason

Gold on black signals premium for Real Broker. Red roofs grab attention for Third Gen Roofing. Calm lilac and gold suit Velura Aesthetics. Color should match what customers expect, then stand out from competitors.

05

Plan for one color

Embroidery, window vinyl, stamps and receipts often print in one color. Every strong logo has a black and a white version that still works.

06

Avoid what everyone nearby uses

If every roofer in your ZIP code uses a red house, a different shape or color is an instant advantage.

07

Skip the trend of the month

Heavy gradients and effects date quickly. Clean shapes last a decade.

08

Build a family, not a single file

Horizontal, stacked and icon-only versions let one logo fit a truck door, a social avatar and a letterhead.
